Delete an IP-Pool in VMM 2012

If you want to delete an IP Pool in VMM 2012 theres an error telling you to delete first all IP Adresses


So you can find them with:

get-SCIPAddress

and delete them with :


$ip = get-scipaddress –IPAddress “192.168.2.116”

$ip | revoke-scipaddress

Bios Version Hyper-V

If you want to figure out on which Hyper-V Plattform your VM is running 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 , you can use this litte Powershell Lines.

This is important if you deploy Systems with a 3rd Party Software in an heterogeneous environment like vmware, hyper-v V2 or hyper-v V3. So you have to check the VENDOR ID and the BIOS ID to figure out the underlaying hypervisor plattform.

Hyper-V Bios Versions:
VIRTUAL - 3000919 Hyper-V 2008 R2 V2
VIRTUAL - 9001114 Hyper-V 2012 beta
VIRTUAL - 5001223 Hyper-V 2012 V3

SMB 3.0 Multipath over Nic Team in Windows Server 2012

During Testing with Windows Server 2012 and reading a lot of slides from TechEd 2012, SMB 3 Multichannel over a Team should work. So I stated my Tests.  First of all two recommondations for a SMB 3 Multichannel:
- Normal TEAM will not support a SMB 3 Multichannel
- RSS must be enabled on the TEAM

DPM 2012 CTP2 Direct IO ohne CSV redirected Modus

Windows Server 2012 unterstützt jetzt direct IO beim Backup vie DPM 2012. Das bedeutet das die CSV während des Backups nicht in den redicted Modus fällt. Das festlegen der Protection Group bei DPM 2012 erfolgt unter dem Reiter "Protection" dann "New" beim Auswählen der VM's darauf achten das die VM "online" ist. SCAPP12 ist online und wird als "Using Child Partition Snapshop" markiert. (Siehe Selected Member). SCSM12-2 ist offline und wird wie bisher via CSV redicted gebackuped.
